Start your day at the world-famous Cairo Citadel of Saladin, a medieval Islamic fortress on a hill overlooking the city. Walk through the magnificent Mohammed Ali Mosque with its soaring dome and minarets. Get panoramic views over the city from the citadel’s walls.
Next head to the Coptic Cairo district to visit the Hanging Church, Cairo’s most famous Coptic Church. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, this basilica was built in the 7th century AD and is one of the oldest and most important Coptic churches in Cairo. Admire the beautiful religious artworks and architecture throughout this peaceful church.
Then, head to the Coptic Museum, which holds the world’s largest collection of Egyptian Christian artifacts. Wander through galleries displaying Coptic art, textiles, manuscripts and more spanning from the 1st to 20th centuries AD.
Continue to the historic Ben Ezra Synagogue, the oldest Jewish synagogue in Egypt. Descend into the crypt where tradition says the infant Moses was found.
